Feb. 12th, 2004 08:00 amNone of the people on my friends list is even nominally Christian, to my knowledge. I've got atheists, pagans and Buddhists on my list. I've been thinking of the concept of Christian heaven.
Even when I was a teen I always was baffled at the simplistic answers to what heaven was like. It still amazes me that there is this large group of people who have all these restrictions and rules that they live their life by for the supposed big payoff of eternal life.
Humans seem unable to even grasp the idea of eternity, due possibly to the limited scope of our lives, and the limited scope of everything around us. Everything dies, scientists think even the universe will have a heat death someday far in the future.
I was also told there's no sex in heaven, we'll no longer care about it. I've been told before that Christianity is an old person's religion, and a lack of a sex life certainly seems to add support to that notion.
Finally, a lot of people I consider to be utter and complete asswipes think they are going to heaven. I don't want to be in the same place as those numbnuts, that's for sure.
