The most fun ever
Feb. 10th, 2006 08:57 amIn summer when I turned 20, and then the next summer as well I had a job teaching summer school to 4th through 6th graders. I tried to be innovative. I had teens as tutors who were typically more trouble than my pupils, so I learned to keep them busy most of the time. They had stations in which the students would rotate in groups.
I had very bright 4th graders and some troubled 6th graders. It worked out pretty well most of time. I tried to catch students being good and helping others, and it seemed to help with the class. I had a couple of boys I made sure were kept busy. They were probably troublemakers in regular school, but even they had some fun in my summer school.
I still remember one student telling me he had the most fun he's ever had at school. Those are the kind of compliments money can't buy.
