I don't watch commercial television unless I catch it over a friend's or at a bar, etc.   I have a netflix subsciption and through it I watch a number of shows without commercial interruption.

I'd like to share with all of my regular readers (all two of you)  some recommendations if you're looking for quality shows.

I think I already pimped Psych, on the USA  network.  But it bares repeating.  This show is FUNNY.  And if you like your characters quirky but smart then this show is for you.

Another show I've recently discovered is Eureka.   Eureka is another show that is driven not only by a clever idea, but it also has quirky interested characters.  From the guy who runs Cafe Diem to the mysterious femme fatale psychologist/bed and breakfast owner, the show is brimming with strange people.  I think one of the reasons I like the show is the young actress who plays the daughter of the sheriff bears more than a passing resemblence to my sister as a teen, though my sister wasn't blonde nor had a helium quality to her voice.

Feel free to leave me suggestions for shows you've discovered that you think merit a second look.

And can someone tell me why my mood icon is crying?  Restless typically just means I don't want to sit in one spot.  There's nothing to cry about, little sun.

Yep, love Eureka. We had cable when it first came out and eventually we'll see more on DVD.

Lately we've been watching Torchwood, Farscape and finished Heroes season 1 a few weeks ago. We've also been working our way through Doctor Who, new and old.

We've been watching Season 1 of Torchwood, and we're on Season 2 of Heroes. I have mixed feelings about Torchwood, some of the episodes feel contrived, but I've liked others. Pacing of the episodes is uneven, too.

I'm sold on Heroes. The first season was a great example of good story telling.

It does feel like they're still trying to get a grasp on Torchwood.

I'm afraid that they started so well with Heros that they might not be able to keep it up.

The second season lost a little of the pacing, but I feel like they made you really care about the characters from first season, so you're more patient. They could have eliminated or severely reduced one of the storylines. You'll know what I mean when you watch it.

I love the Monk/Psych double feature. Primeval has had entertainment value, although it's already starting to get a bit stale. Also via BBC (America) comes Robin Hood, which isn't nearly as sword-and-slashy as it normally is (season 1 was pretty much a thinly-veiled indictment of the Bush Administration).

Other than that, our staples include Bones and House and (in V's case) anything with vampires (which right now means the HBO show True Blood).

As to your sun, "restless" to me usually implies that I can't sit still because I'm really worried about something, like that feeling you get when a loved one was supposed to be home from a long trip at 6 and now it's 9 and there hasn't been a phone call or anything.

My students and I were just talking about Eureka the other day - talking about intentional/designed communities. I really like the show - I generally Tivo it and then watch several in a row.
